7th Grade Robotics

This year Pine Crest is launching a PreK-12 Computer Science curriculum. As a result, job responsibilities have shifted and I find myself facilitating a 7th grade Robotics wheel. While several of my students are Robotics hobbyists at home or have been part of the club in Lower School, most are experiencing the Lego Education Mindstorms EV3 Hardware and Software Robotics platform for the first time.

We’re following the software’s build guides and lessons for the Basic Education Robot. Here’s where we were the first week.

A post on First Lego League’s website describes the challenges of robotics as …”the hardest fun students will ever experience.”  I never dreamed I would be responsible for a Robotics class.  It is a humbling and energizing experience.
